Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has seemingly responded to Jamie Carragher's criticism of him celebrating David Raya's save against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon. Ramsdale has lost his place to Raya in each of the Gunners' last three matches, with the England international having previously established himself as Mikel Arteta's number-one since arriving at the club in the summer of 2021.
During one moment against Spurs, the 25-year-old was pictured clapping after Raya made an impressive save, with Liverpool legend Carragher poking fun at the moment during Sky Sports' coverage of the game. «I thought it was like the Oscars, you know when someone loses the Oscar and they start clapping and smiling for the other person,» the former England international joked.
«I was laughing when I saw that. He's absolutely devastated with that really.»
Now, Ramsdale has taken to Instagram, posting an old picture of him celebrating with fellow goalkeeper Mark Travers during his Bournemouth days, seemingly a reply to Carragher's comments to show that his applause wasn't for the cameras. The talented shot-stopper also posted a picture where he can be seen celebrating with his Arsenal teammates last season, perhaps indicating he doesn't plan to leave the north London club anytime soon.
This comes after Ramsdale's dad, Nick, also hit back at Carragher's comments on social media. He wrote to Carragher on X (formerly Twitter): «You are a Disgrace!!
