Andre Onana insists he has a 'good relationship' with Harry Maguire despite berating the defender on the pitch in pre-season.
Manchester United head to the Allianz Arena to face Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening, as the Red Devils return to the Champions League, live on talkSPORT.
Maguire, who has struggled for minutes with the Red Devils this season and been the subject of intense scrutiny, has been left behind after picking up an injury.
Onana was asked about the former Man United captain ahead of the Champions League clash, and the goalkeeper revealed he'd spoken to the defender before the team left for Germany.
That's despite Onana lambasting Maguire in the pre-season loss to Borussia Dortmund after the England star made a loose pass and let Dortmund in on goal, leaving the goalkeeper to snuff out the danger.
«Harry’s a very good guy, I have a good relationship with him, I spoke to him this morning before we took off,» the goalkeeper said.
«What happened there was done straight after the game. I don’t think we have to give too much to what happened, we are big guys and what happened on the pitch stays on the pitch, we have a good relationship.»
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher recently doubled down on his belief that Onana went 'over the top' with his reaction to Maguire's error and that the goalkeeper hammered him to endear himself to the Man United fans.
But Onana insists his animated reactions only come from having high expectations for his back line.
