Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea weigh up Ivan Toney transfer as Brentford price tag revealed
Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are all likely to be in the mix to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the January transfer window, as per The Mirror. The Bees are said to be demanding at least £60million for the England international, who will be into the final 18 months of his contract in west London when the winter window opens.
It is claimed that the Gunners would likely have made a bid for Toney last summer, although his ongoing ban ruled out any transfer. Bees boss Thomas Frank spoke about the 27-year-old's future at the Gtech Community Stadium during Sky Sport ’s Monday Night Football programme, admitting that everyone is available at the right price.
«I think every club in the world are a selling club except five or six clubs,» Frank said. «We are a selling club, if the right price is there.
»He scored 20 goals in the Premier League last year, in, of course, a very good Brentford side but of course we are not creating as many chances as the top six or seven teams. So imagine him in a top team, he’d easily score 20, 25 goals, for me.
«I think he’s composed, he’s a good finisher, top mentality, so I understand why clubs are looking at him.» Arsenal have a wealth of options up front, with the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah and Leandro Trossard all utilised through the middle so far this season.
Meanwhile, Spurs may have lost Harry Kane during the summer but they still have Son Heung-min and Richarlison at their disposal, with Wales international Brennan Johnson also arriving in N17 on transfer deadline day. Chelsea are perhaps the most in need of a top-class centre-forward as Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja are the only out-and-out number nines at Mauricio Pochettino's disposal.
