Chelsea have dropped a triple injury update ahead of Mauricio Pochettino's pre-Burnley press conference on Friday. The Blues travel to Turf Moor on Saturday for the final game ahead of the October international break and have been granted a huge boost for the trip.
After suffering two blows in the 2-0 win over Fulham on Monday,Pochettino had been dealt yet another setback when it comes to the fitness of his squad. Mykhailo Mudryk was forced off at half-time having scored his first goal for the club whilst Moises Caicedo went down in the final stages holding his knee.
Caicedo has been in and out of the squad since the last international break after returning from duty with Ecuador with a knock on his knee. «I hope there is nothing wrong, but it was a contusion,» Pochettino said afterwards. The 21-year-old appears to be fit for the game on Saturday though.
In the weekly injury round-up run by Chelsea Caicedo was left off the list alongside Mudryk, indicating that both players are making good progress. They have both been spotted in training during the week as well, further evidence of their potential availability for the weekend.
Reece James, who has only played once this season, is also off the list for the first time since mid-August after he suffered yet another injury concern. The club captain hasn't played in two months and is being carefully managed due to his plagued track record in recent years.
The 23-year-old returned to training this week ahead of Burnley but will not be able to play. Although it wasn't expected that he would be fit enough to make a return, James has been handed a one-match ban following events in the tunnel after the 1-0 loss to Aston Villa two weeks ago.
