Dergview manager Tommy Canning
Dergview are on the lookout for a new manager after confirming they had accepted the resignation of Tommy Canning after a poor start to the new season.
The Co Tyrone club are currently 11th in the Playr-Fit Championship on three points after winning just one of their opening seven games of the season.
A run of four straight defeats prompted Canning’s decision to announce his resignation, despite the fact that Dergview lost by just one goal to the top two sides in the League, Newington and Dundela, on back-to-back weeks.
Indeed, the Castlederg-based outfit have never been blown out in any game this season, losing by just one goal to promotion-chasing Portadown and Annagh United as well in their first seven games.
But Saturday’s 4-2 loss away to Ards proved to be Canning’s final game in charge, and Dergview will now look for the right candidate to lead them away from the wrong end of the table.
Canning leaves the club having led them to success during his time in the dugout, taking them to a top-six finish in his first season in charge and delivering two North West Senior Cups, too.
