Dion double hands AmaZulu stunning win
Junior Dion struck two injury-time goals at the end of the match to hand AmaZulu a dramatic 3-2 win over Cape Town City at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday evening.
Usuthu claimed an early lead via Mbongeni Gumede, but the Citizens hit back through Khanyisa Mayo in the first half, and netted again via Tshegofatso Nyama in the second stanza.
Yet a morale-booting victory was denied to the Cape side by Junior Dion, who provided two close-range strikes in injury time to turn the game in the Durban team’s favour.
A second successive league win for AmaZulu raised them to fourth on the log with nine points from six matches, while City suffered a fifth successive loss across all competitions and find themselves in a lowly 14th on six points from as many matches.
AmaZulu claimed the lead as early as the sixth minute, as City goalkeeper Bongani Mpandle fumbled a free kick delivered into the middle of the box, allowing Mbongeni Gumede to easily stroke home the loose ball for 1-0.
