Arsenal supporters are ecstatic and full of optimism after Mikel Arteta named Gabriel Jesus in his starting line-up to face PSV Eindhoven. The Brazilian has been restricted to substitute appearances since undergoing knee surgery in pre-season.
Arteta takes charge of his first-ever Champions League game tonight as the Gunners welcome PSV to the Emirates. Arsenal have not competed in UEFA's elite football competition since 2016 when Barcelona ran out as easy winners in the Round of 16.
A busy summer transfer window has given Arteta improved squad depth and the Spaniard has turned to those who did not start at the weekend. The 41-year-old has made three changes from the side that won 1-0 at Goodison Park.
Leandro Trossard comes into the side after his stunning winner helped the Gunners secure all three points. Kai Havertz, too, returns to the line-up having won the competition — and scoring the winner in the final — for Chelsea two years ago.
Finally, Jesus replaces Eddie Nketiah up front aiming to build on his cameo appearances in recent weeks. Fabio Vieira and the injured Gabriel Martinelli make way.
This is how Gooners reacted to the team news on social media.
