Glentoran's David Fisher celebrates his goal at The Oval
Warren Feeney’s Glentoran blasted ailing Ballymena United with a devastating four goals in 13 first half minutes to secure an important three points at the BetMcLean Oval.
The east Belfast team took the lead on 23 minutes when Aidan Wilson headed in a Cammy Palmer corner kick.
Substitute Junior, who had just replaced the injured Jay Donnelly, hit a second three minutes later, a rasping drive from the edge of the box.
Junior struck again on 29 minutes. Palmer’s delicious pass was helped on by Johnny Russell and the former Derry City man rammed home from an awkward angle.
Skipper James Singleton then got in on the scoring stakes on 36 minutes, volley home a Daire O’Connor pass from the edge of the box.
Glentoran increased their lead on 50 minutes. This time Niall McGinn picked out David Fisher, and from 25 yards, he rocketed his shot past Sean O’Neill.
It got worse for Ballymena because they lost Donal Rocks on 66 minutes, having picked up quick-fire yellow cards.
