The UK and Ireland are set to host Euro 2028 as they remain the only bidders left at the table. UEFA will announce the winning bids for 2028 and 2032 next Tuesday (October 10).
Turkey were rivalling the UK & Ireland bid but have withdrawn their offer after an opportunity to challenge unopposed — in a joint bid with Italy — for the 2032 edition became available.
Their omission now makes the UK & Ireland dead certs to host the tournament later this decade. There were fears after Euro 2020 that the FA had stained their chances of entertaining another major final at Wembley.
Fan disorder throughout the day plagued England's showdown with Italy two years ago, with a damning Baroness Casey report listing the event as a «near miss» which could have led to fatalities. As a result, a strict alcohol ban is now placed on Wembley Way.
But UEFA publicly backed Wembley to deliver their 2024 Champions League final safely shortly after Euro 2020 — placing a vote of confidence in the FA. The UK & Ireland bid now looks to have romped to victory and are expected to be confirmed as winners next week.

This will be the first time British shores have fully hosted a major football tournament since England staged Euro 96. Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland will also be organising their first major tournament, although five of the 10 stadiums will be Premier League grounds.
