The ghost of Gary Hamilton didn’t linger long as reserve team boss Gary McAlister was drafted in to stead the Glenavon ship against Carrick Rangers.
An early Kyle Cherry dismissal gave the Mourneview men a boost before Aaron Prendergast and Jack Malone ensured the new Gary on the block started with a win.
Spare a thought for Carrick, however, as Danny Purkis bagged himself a wonder goal from inside the centre-circle, but ultimately it counted for nothing.
