Jamie Carragher has explained the similarities between Ange Postecoglou and Jurgen Klopp ahead of their respective teams doing battle this Saturday. Both Tottenham and Liverpool are unbeaten in Premier League action ahead of the Reds heading to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the only team not to taste defeat at the new Spurs stadium.
Across the last six years, the Lilywhites have picked up just three points in games against Liverpool with their last victory coming at Wembley Stadium in 2017. Klopp's side currently sit two points above Spurs after winning their recent clash against West Ham while Spurs drew against Arsenal in the North London Derby.
Carragher has thus far been left very impressed by Postecoglou with the Liverpool legend admitting that how he has arrived on the scene is similar to how Klopp was welcomed when he rocked up at Anfield in 2015. «He reminds me a little bit of when Jurgen Klopp first came in to Liverpool, in that it feels like everybody loves him,» Carragher said on An Echo of Glory.
«I think everyone has just bought into Postecoglou being in the Premier League and, as everybody said about Klopp when he first came in, you’d love to go for a pint with him that’s the type of guy he comes across as and then you watch his team play and it’s such a contrast from what Tottenham were.
»I can’t believe how well Tottenham are doing because it is such a shift in terms of the football. He’s brought players in but there’s a lot of players there use to the style of football under [Antonio] Conte. So to come in and do what he’s done, not just the results but the actual performances already and you think it can only get better once he brings more players."
