Jonny Evans was denied a dream return after having a goal disallowed against Burnley.
The central defender was a shock inclusion in Erik ten Hag's side for the clash at Turf Moor following a defensive injury crisis that included Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane.
Evans signed a short-term deal over the summer but was named in the Manchester United XI to face the Clarets for his first Red Devils appearance since 2015.
After United endured a shaky opening with Burnley on top, the 35-year-old was delighted after heading home from a corner to put Man United 1-0 up against Vincent Kompany's side.
However any celebrations were short-lived when the decision was sent to VAR for consultation, leading the goal to eventually be ruled out.
This was due to Rasmus Hojlund being in an offside position and blocking the view of James Trafford
Evans last played for Manchester United in March 2015 before leaving the club and spending eight years playing for West Brom and Leicester.
