Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed that attacker Bukayo Saka is a doubt for Wednesday night's Carabao Cup trip to Brentford and trip to Bournemouth at the weekend.
The winger, who scored in the 2-2 draw against Tottenham on Sunday, was seen limping towards the end of the thrilling North London Derby before being replaced by Emile Smith Rowe. football.londonreported at the time that the England international was in severe pain after taking a knock to his foot.
Despite there being an understanding that the knock wasn't anything serious, Arteta was on hand to provide a brief update on the forward. Speaking on Tuesday, he said: «He was limping quite badly after the match. We had to get him off the field. He hasn't been able to participate in the session. It's a possibility (he could miss Bournemouth.»
Having already lost Gabriel Martinelli to injury, hope would initially fall withLeandro Trossard, who has been super-reliable when called upon since signing. However, the Belgium international missed the clash with Spurs on Sunday and the Gunners boss was asked about his fitness.
"[He] won't be available," Arteta said. «Let's see how he improves day by day. He did some activity and that's why he felt it. It was uncomfortable.»
Elsewhere, football.london understands that Declan Rice's back injury sustained against Ange Postecoglou's side isn't too serious, although it's likely that he won't be risked against the Bees. «He hasn't trained yet. He could not carry on in the game,» Arteta added when asked for an update on his £105million summer signing.
