Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Raheem Sterling did not train for three days ahead of the Premier League clash against Fulham this evening. The Chelsea boss has made four changes to the starting XI that beat Brighton in the Carabao Cup — but Sterling does not feature in the attack.
The England international was suffering from a virus last week, which Pochettino revealed was the reason why he opted to start Broja. Speaking ahead of the Fulham clash, the Blues manager said: «Raheem Sterling didn’t train in the last three days because of a virus.
»That is why we play with Armando. He’s ready.
«Maybe we don’t know if he can play 90 minutes. Hopefully he can deal with the competition after a long period [out].»
Elsewhere, Cole Palmer has been handed his first Premier League start after impressing Pochettino since his arrival from Manchester City. During his pre-Fulham press conference, Pochettino hinted that he could start the England Under-21 international: «Yes, maybe yes.
»I'm so happy with his performance after only a few weeks with us. He was able to perform very well and fit very well in the team. He is a talented player, young talented player but I think he is in my mind to start on Monday."

Nicolas Jackson's suspension has forced Pochettino into freshening up his attack, but it remains to be seen how Chelsea will perform without their two top goalscorers of the season so far. The Blues failed to score a Premier League goal in September after only netting five times in their opening six fixtures.
