Micah Richards has joked that he wanted Thierry Henry to hire him for the France Under-21s, only to be let down via a phone call.
The Arsenal and Premier League legend took on the role as manager of the young side last month and will also coach Les Bleus at the Olympics in Paris next summer.
It's the fifth different coaching role that Henry has had. He's been a youth coach at Arsenal and then an assistant with the Belgium national team before becoming Monaco boss.
Henry joined Montreal Impact in 2019 but returned to his previous role with Belgium a year-and-a-half later and is now with France.
Such a role is one that is still fresh to him and despite not having any experience in management himself, Richards seemed keen to join in.
On Tuesday night, CBS Sports presenter Kate Abdo asked Henry: «Did you consider taking an assistant maybe from your inner circle?»
Henry then looked towards Richards, who went said: «To be honest, I was expecting a call.
»But he called me to tell me who his assistant was! Titi, you did me wrong man, you did me wrong!"
Instead of Richards, Gerald Baticle and former Arsenal defender Gael Clichy are Henry's assistants with the France U21s.
It has been so far, so good since the start of his tenure as they have won both of their games under his management.
