FIFA to announce hosts in May 2024
The United States and Mexico officially submitted a joint bid to host the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, which would take place one year after the two nations, along with Canada, host the 2026 World Cup, ESPN announced.
With the slogan «New Hights» and seeking to «capitalize on a moment of extraordinary growth in women's sport and deliver a tournament of unprecedented success», the two nations unveiled their bid for the tenth edition of the tournament.
If the joint venue is chosen, it would be the third time the United States has hosted the competition, following the 1999 and 2003 editions.
The president of the Mexican Football Federation, former Olympic athlete Ivar Sisniega, said that hosting the 2027 Women's World Cup would be a platform for the growth of women's football in both North American nations.
«We are delighted to partner with US Soccer to bid for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup,» Sisniega said in remarks reported by ESPN.
