862 days after his last competitive game for FC Bayern – Jérôme Boateng (35) will take to the training ground at Säbener Straße at 11.03 CET on Sunday.
Will Boateng play for Bayern again?
The clubless defender (left Bayern in 2021) should get the chance to prove his fitness. If he passes, he could get a contract until the end of the season. Talks are to be held in the next few days.
Bavaria's emergency plan because of the thin staffing level is already heating up tempers. But in a vote, 43 percent (131,000 participants) were against this signing.
It's about more than just sporting reasons. Boateng has become a scandalous world champion.
He is being prosecuted for bodily injury in two cases. He is accused of hitting, injuring and insulting his ex-fiancée and mother of his twins while on vacation in the Caribbean in July 2018. He has been convicted in two instances.
"I see it completely differently ..." TV dynamite because of Bayern and Boateng
"For us, the facts of the case are more than proven," Judge Andreas Forstner had declared at the second trial in October 2022. This sentence of 1.2 million euros in damages (120 daily rates of 10,000 euros each) was overturned a week ago. The only reason: gross procedural errors.
The trial is now being completely reopened at the Munich District Court. Both Boateng and the public prosecutor's office had requested this.
There will probably not be a court date this year. Until then, Boateng is formally and legally innocent and has no criminal record.
A commitment would also be questionable from a sporting point of view.
Last season, he only made eight league appearances for Lyon. He made his last 90-minute appearance in France on 30 October 2022. His expiring contract was not renewed.
