Alejo Veliz is now officially a Tottenham player after completing his move from Rosario Central. The highly-rated 19-year-old has signed a six-year contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and he will wear the No.36 shirt for the Lilywhites.
Already making their move in the transfer market on Tuesday afternoon after confirming the arrival of Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg in a £43million deal, Spurs have been incredibly active ahead of the new season with Veliz's arrival confirmed a matter of hours later. Making his mark for Rosario in 2023 with 11 goals in 23 appearances, the 19-year-old joins in a £13million deal and it could prove to be a rather smart piece of business from Tottenham.
Bolstering Ange Postecoglou's attacking options going into the 2023/24 campaign, Veliz has admitted that he couldn't believe it initially when he heard of Tottenham's interest but he has a «huge desire» to be a major success for the club.
«Now I'm here, it's like I'm touching the heavens with my hands,» the striker told SPURSPLAY. «When I first found out about everything that was happening and that the club were interested in me, to be honest with you I couldn't believe it. It really didn't sink in until I actually arrived here.
»I'm coming here with a huge desire to do well. I'm totally on board and 100 per cent focused on the task in hand here. I'm really pleased and grateful to have my family here with me, they're always with me.
