Carlo Ancelotti insists Jude Bellingham did nothing wrong when he tried to distract Harry Kane ahead of the England captain’s penalty in the Champions League semi-final.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich meet in the Bernabeu in the second leg of their last-four clash on Wednesday night. Bellingham had attempted to put Kane off as he stepped up to put Bayern in front in the first leg.
And when asked about the moment Bellingham attempted to psyche Kane out of scoring his spot-kick in the Allianz Arena, Ancelotti shrugged: “Jude is a fantastic guy and he will respect everyone. And he has a really good relationship with Harry Kane from the national team.”
Bellingham and Kane will collide again in Madrid, with the tie beautifully poised at two apiece. And even though 64-year-old Ancelotti has FOUR Champions League titles to his managerial name, he admits he still gets incredibly excited ahead of such a big match … and nervous when the first whistle is imminent.
The Real Madrid manager said: “It is a great motivation to live such a day. To live today is amazing. We have to enjoy it … tomorrow (match day) we will be worried.”
But with Kane leading the Bayern attack, Ancelotti knows the Spanish champions will be severely tested, saying: “They (Bayern) have a great tradition in the Champions League and we need to respect a rival.
"They have done better than us in the first leg. On our defensive level, we could have done much better. We are very excited because we have a great opportunity to get to another final. It could be a magical night for our fans.”
