"Ancelotti didn't apologise to me and he didn't have to"
Antonio Rudiger will be an important starter in the Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City. The German defender will be tasked with trying to stop Erling Haaland in what is expected to be an exciting clash.
"It was a good game at home, I think we all did our best to keep Haaland under control. He wasn't able to get a lot of passes in. In the second game, Ancelotti neither apologised to me nor did he have to. I as a player had to accept the substitution. For this game, the plan is going to be the same as last year," he told a news conference.
"There are photos and videos, but these are things I don't plan anything for Tuesday. It's the feeling or what comes to me in each moment. What I'm going to do is take that duel personally because I'm a defensive player against a super striker," he said of facing Haaland.
The German spoke of his club's current form: "I think it's been a good season so far for me and my teammates. I'm very happy, but it doesn't really matter. We know how important this tournament is for the club and nothing matters if we don't keep going".
Rudiger will start, but he doesn't yet know who will be his partner in the centre of defence: "Who I have next to me is the coach's decision. Nacho is a very experienced player and Tchouameni is doing a great job."
