Ange Postecoglou has already delivered his thoughts on spending caps this month and they may not entirely align with Tottenham's Premier League vote on Monday.
The north London outfit were one of the 16 clubs that voted in favour of the principle of a spending cap which would see clubs in the league restricted to spending a proportion of the amount the bottom club in the Premier League earns in TV and commercial money. So if clubs were allowed to spend 4.5 times that amount on their squad, the figure that has been mooted, then their wages, amortised transfer fees and payments to agents would all have to remain in total below it.
The two Manchester clubs and Aston Villa reportedly voted against the plans while Chelsea abstained from voting. The finer details of the proposal, such as whether it will be total domestic and overseas TV income or just the UK deal, will now be put together before a formal vote at the Premier League AGM next month.
The idea behind such restrictions is known as 'anchoring' and it would bring the game more into line with American sports such as NFL, which ensure competition by keeping all their franchises within set limits for spending each season.
Postecoglou was asked about financial restrictions within the game, and coming from the Australian game, the 58-year-old was not keen on the Premier League going the same way.
«I come from a world where it has been very, very regulated, so equalisation in Australia, like it is in American sports, is very, very big. So I've come from that world. I didn't like it one bit,» he said. «There's always an understanding that you've got to create some kind of competitive balance between clubs and there isn't too much of a divide between clubs who can spend at random
