Liverpool are close to appointing a new manager after reaching an agreement with Dutch team Feyenoord to discuss terms with manager Arne Slot, in their search to replace Jurgen Klopp after nearly 9 years in charge.
The club have settled on Slot after interest cooled in Portuguese man Ruben Amorim, and earlier No.1 target Xabi Alonso decided to stay at German champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Slot led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title last season, the club's first since 2017, and has claimed the KNVB Cup this term. The 45-year-old coach was linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job last summer and other top clubs like Barcelona and Bayern Munich have been impressed with his work so far. However, fans in the Echo's comments section are mixed on the news of Slot potentially making the jump across the Channel.

Commenter Imraan is excited: “Excellent choice! Intelligent, calm, good relation with players & media, strategic and developing players. Let's do it.” User Weshallnotbemoved writes: “Good progressive manager. Impressed with his style of play. Big jump from Dutch football though.”
RobbieWilliams says: “Give the man a chance, he is not even through the door yet and loads of negativity. Everybody wanted Alonso, me included, but this guy's managerial CV is almost the same for trophies won. Just give the guy a chance and let's see how things go. He is filling big boots we all know that, but he needs the supporters to back him. With a bit of luck he may get rid of the dead wood first. Welcome to Anfield Arne, and good luck in the new season.”
