Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes that Mikel Arteta must sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this summer — even if it means splashing upwards of £100m on the star.
The Swedish international, who arrived at St James' Park from Real Sociedad 18 months ago, has been in standout form this season having netted 24 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions. The 24-year-old's rich vein of form over the last few weeks has seen him notch ten goals across seven of his last nine league matches, finishes which have seen him be nominated for the Premier League's Young Player of the Year award and comparisons made with Gunners legend Thierry Henry.
Arteta's side are reportedly looking at the sale of striker Gabriel Jesus over the summer, just two years on from his arrival at the Emirates Stadium, a sale which could bolster the coffers for a variety of moves that the Gunners have been rumoured to make when the transfer window opens.
Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been a name floated around a north London move for what feels like forever while the latest on Arsenal's radar has been Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres whose 40-plus goal season in Portugal has shown his impressive displays in thee Championship were no fluke.
However, Parlour claims Isak is the answer to Arsenal's striker issue which has threatened to plague them all season long. Talking to Football FanCast on behalf of NetBet Sports Betting, he claimed: «Isak is the type of player who could do well in this Arsenal team.
»He will suit Arsenal’s fluid style of play and can do well in this team with the likes of [Bukayo] Saka, [Gabriel] Martinelli, [Kai] Havertz, [Leandro] Trossard and [Martin] Odegaard supporting him.
