Arsenal have proved yet again they are serious Premier League title contenders with a superb 3-0 win over Brighton. The Gunners moved down to third following Manchester City's victory over Crystal Palace earlier in the day, however Mikel Arteta's side securing another three points saw them reach the summit before Liverpool take on Manchester United.
Goals from Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard handed Arsenal all three points with their sixth clean sheet in eight Premier League games. The Gunners are the first team to beat Brighton at Amex Stadium since August and they will be aiming to continue their impressive form in Champions League action with the visit of Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening.
Following the victory, Mikel Arteta spoke to reporters with his words telling of how proud he was of the performance. “The boys were outstanding again," he admitted in a press conference. «In attack, we showed real threat. We were really connected in our moves and we had a lot of purpose.
»We scored the first goal after a great little action from Gabby and then two brilliant goals in different ways. But then as well the discipline, the mental toughness that the team showed.” With Arsenal enthralled in a fierce title race, Arteta will have to carefully manager his squad with Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola facing similar decisions.
Prior to their clash against Manchester United, Liverpool sit on 70 points with City also on that tally after their win, while Arsenal are one point above both. As we enter the final weeks of the season, with barely anything to separate all three teams, goal difference may be the deciding factor with City boosting theirs this weekend.
