After leading Chelsea to the Premier League title in 2016/17, Eden Hazard reflected on his favourite goals and moments from the campaign. Seven-years on and the 32-year-old has decided to retire from professional football, so sit back, relax and let the memories flood back as he takes you though what was a historic season.
Speaking to the official Chelsea website, as quoted by football.london in 2017, Hazard began by recalling his strike against West Ham. He said: «It’s always good to win the first game, especially at home, and this was a very tough match which we won late thanks to Diego’s goal.
»I’d missed a penalty the season before so I was glad to score and it’s always nice to get on the scoresheet in the first game. It was a key moment for myself and the team."
Hazard noted his strike against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. He said: «It was an important goal in a fantastic win. I have to say we were a little bit lucky because they missed a lot of chances.
»I felt tired at the end of the run but when you score you want to celebrate and the Chelsea fans were right in front of me. When you are one-on-one with the goalkeeper it's not easy but I was confident because I knew exactly where I was going to put the ball. It was a good finish, game over."
Then, Hazard remembered his famous solo effort against Arsenal when he shook off Francis Coquelin before chipping Petr Cech. He said: «It was a fantastic goal at home against a rival. We lost the away game so it was good to get revenge, we did well and it was a beautiful goal.
