Arsenal Women vs A-League All-Stars Women in Melbourne: Marvel Stadium to host friendly in May

Star-studded football action is taking over Melbourne in May for Global Football Week as Women's Super League (WSL) giants Arsenal will take on the A-League All Stars Women in a friendly at Marvel Stadium. 

Arsenal, the most successful English women's team, having won 15 domestic league titles and 14 FA Cups, will make their first visit to Australia as the first WSL team to play Down Under. 

It also marks the first time an All Star team will be put together for the A-League Women.

The Gunners feature a host of Australian stars with Matildas World Cup heroes Steph Catley, Kyra Cooney-Cross and Caitlin Foord, plying their trade in North London.   

“We’re so happy our women’s team will be playing in Australia for the first time ever this May," Arsenal Sporting Director, Edu said.

“We’re really proud that this special match against A League All Stars Women will give our supporters in Australia a fantastic opportunity to see our players in action and give our players a chance to connect with everyone who loves the game there. 

We all shared in the excitement, saw huge attendances and viewing figures of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia.  This is a chance for us to build on that in partnership with the A League which is experiencing its own exciting growth too.”

Arsenal Women vs. A-League All Stars Women will play in a friendly on Friday, May 24.

The game will kick-off at 8:05 p.m. — the second game of a double-header at Marvel Stadium, with Newcastle United and the A-League All Stars Men facing off at 5:15 p.m.
