As Barcelona continue to focus on player exits, they could be on the cusp of bidding goodbye to one of their youngsters, albeit temporarily, as Pablo Torre is closing in on a loan move away.
Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, the 20-year-old midfielder will not be travelling to the United States of America with the rest of the squad for pre-season as he hopes to finalise a loan exit next week.
Torre joined Barça last summer from Racing Santander, with the Catalans beating Real Madrid to his signing. The 20-year-old starlet struggled for game-time in Xavi’s side, featuring just 13 times in all competitions, finishing with just one goal and assist apiece.
With Ilkay Gundogan arriving and Xavi looking to add another creative midfielder, if finances permit, the youngster’s situation was not going to improve in the upcoming campaign.
As such, Torre is now set to leave on loan, in order to continue his progression and development, while gaining experience at the highest level.
And, as per the report, Girona appear to be the frontrunners to sign the young midfield prodigy on a temporary arrangement for the 2023/24 season.
Barcelona are already negotiating with Girona to sign Oriol Romeu and talks for Torre have also been held, although both are seen as separate operations. And the Catalans are waiting for their local rivals to send in a formal offer before giving the OK for the move.
While things seem to be advancing for Torre to join Girona, other clubs such as Valencia and Villarreal also retain an interest in the youngster. And the midfielder’s entourage is not ruling out these possible destinations for him this summer.
