However, another club with great prestige in the most important club competition is six-time winners Bayern Munich, who have been the 'Merengues' bogey team for many years despite the scales recently tipping in the Spanish side's favour.
The Bundesliga side coach Thomas Tuchel is well aware of the importance of their semi-final opponents in the competition and described the La Liga leaders as a ‘myth’.
"We are playing against Real Madrid, a legendary club, a myth. What do we need against Real Madrid? Tactics, luck. A good mix, balance. My players want to see a plan, an idea. They also need freedom. Let's not forget we need luck," said the German manager.
