Wayne Rooney will be given his Royal Blue welcome at St Andrew's this evening when his Birmingham City team play a first home game since his appointment.
Just two weeks have passed since one of the most recognisable names in English football history became the latest man to take charge of Blues, in what is just the third managerial role of his fledging career. Already he's a year older, having celebrated his 38th birthday yesterday, and he has seen his team lose his opening fixture.
That came at Middlesbrough on Saturday when Rooney's first Blues XI, and a surprise 4-3-3 set-up, nearly escaped The Riverside with what would have been a sketchy draw. However, it was not to be and a late Morgan Rogers strike ushered in the new era with an underwhelming defeat.
Rooney gets the chance to put that right tonight when Blues face Hull City with the Tigers just two places and one point behind their 11th placed hosts. They are managed by Liam Rosenior, Rooney's assistant when he was manager at Derby County.
The game kicks off at 7.45pm, Blues reporter Alex Dicken will bring you all the build-up, action and reaction and that all important team-news an hour before kick-off, so stay tuned.
