Bray Wanderers staged a fine comeback to end Treaty United’s 100% record at a packed Markets Field. Trusting their bench, the visitors had telling contributions from their rising youngsters, which saw them claw back a two-goal deficit inside the final 20 minutes.
In what was a very open and at time chaotic game, Wanderers should be credited for their spirit which sees them move add a point to the three they collected two weeks ago in Kerry. The Limerick side became frustrated during this tie and collected six yellow cards.
Tommy Barrett’s side were ahead after just 86 seconds of action. Having won a corner virtually from kick-off, their second saw Willie Armshaw find the head of fellow Tipperary native Walsh, whose close range header found the net.
Despite a ravenous start from the hosts, there was chances for the Seagulls. Kilian Cantwell should have levelled while there was a chance too for striker Cristian Magerusan, he scuffed an effort from 10-yards when he looked likely to level.
Their best chance came to full-back Max Murphy. He latched onto a through ball, touched the ball away from Chambers but hooked an effort off the post. Bray were open all night on the counter-attack and with Enda Curran, Lee Devitt and Thomas Considine linking well, a second goal would leave Wanderers with a mountain to climb.
That arrived six minutes before the interval. This time, the right wing was the route to goal. Having earlier fired over from close range, Considine made no mistake. Somehow, he was afforded the time to drill a low effort which appeared to deceive Jimmy Corcoran on its way to the back of the net.
