Manchester United's captain Bruno Fernandes was absent in the Red Devils' embarrassing defeat at Crystal Palace in what was his first injury-enforced absence from a game during his professional club career.
After more than 500 games played over 12 years, since making his debut for Italian club Novara in Serie B, the Portuguese had never missed a game through injury at club level.
It didn't happen in the 23 games he played at Novara, nor at Udinese (95), Sampdoria (35), Sporting Lisbon(137) and Manchester United (230). He has missed two games through injury with the Portugal national team.
The former Sporting Lisbon player has made 45 official appearances for the Red Devils so far this season, 44 of them starts, in which he has scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists.
