Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has posed the two questions that Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale may have in his battle with David Raya.
The Gunners signed Raya from Brentford on an initial loan deal this summer, potentially rising to a £30m transfer fee. It was a signing that came out of the blue for many Arsenal fans, given some of Ramsdale’s heroics during the club’s title challenge last term.
Mikel Arteta defended the signing of Raya by insisting he saw the pair as two good goalkeepers, not first and second choice. In the draw with Chelsea on Saturday, Raya was beaten by Mykhailo Mudryk’s flukey goal and gave the ball away to Cole Palmer, almost leading Arsenal to go 3-0 down. The Spain international followed this with some familiar passing errors in the Gunners’ Champions League win over Sevilla on Tuesday night.
