Cape Town City have confirmed the signing of Angolan forward Jo Paciencia, a much needed targetman style forward for coach Eric Tinkler.
The 27-year-old is no stranger to South African football having played for his country against Bafana Bafana in a friendly in November last year.
He also played for former side Sagrada Esperança against Orlando Pirates in the 2019/20 CAF Confederation Cup.
Jo is experienced in the Champions League too having scored for Sagrada against Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in the 2021/22 campaign.
The forward has also previously turned out for Petro Atletico and InterClube in his homeland, but this will eb his first foray outside of Angola.
City have been looking for a No 9 for several seasons, and tried Wayde Lekay, Bertrand Mani and teenager Luke Daniels last season without much success.
They have plenty of skillful wingers and playmakers, but Tinkler has been desperate to find as focal-point for their attack and will hope Jo fits the bill.
