Catherine Tate 'really sorry' as she cancels Liverpool Comic Con appearance

Catherine Tate has apologised to Comic Con fans in Liverpool and beyond as she said she will not be able to come to the city as planned for the 2024 event.

Characters from films and comic books take centre stage ahead of the arrival of Comic Con in the city next month. The convention, which has grown to become the biggest in the UK outside London, will be held across all locations of the ACC Liverpool campus including the Exhibition and Convention Centres, Auditorium and M&S Bank Arena.

Visitors can expect an impressive line-up of appearances from stars such as Orlando Bloom, Jared Padalecki, Andy Serkis and Elijah Wood from May 4 to May 5 - but not, as originally planned, Catherine Tate.

The comedian and actress, 54, took to Instagram on Monday and said: ""Hello this is Catherine Tate and it's a message for everyone going to Comic Con in Liverpool in May. I'm so sorry, I cannot get there now because of a scheduling thing with work and I'm really sorry to miss you because I do love Liverpool.

"I'm hoping to see you in Manchester in July but have a fantastic time and, again, I am so sorry not to be there."

The post caption explained that customers have been emailed and that ticket holders can either switch their tickets to Comic Con Manchester on July 27/28 or request a refund. It added: "Catherine sends her deepest apologies along with this video and hopes to see you all soon."
