Ben Chilwell has sent Chelsea supporters into a transfer frenzy after making a mysterious comment about Kylian Mbappe. The Blues waltzed past Fulham on Sunday evening to win the Premier League Summer Series, topping the table with seven points from three games.
As Reece James and Thiago Silva lifted the trophy, television coverage of the on-pitch ceremony picked up Chilwell making an interesting remark. The Blues left-back said: "And Mbappe ain't here."
Four weeks have passed and the France international still hasn't committed his long-term future to PSG – nor has he found a new club. With Mbappe expected to seek pastures new, whether it be this summer or next, the Blues have reportedly entered the race to sign him.
According to the Daily Record, Chelsea are attempting to negotiate a player-plus-cash deal to bring the Frenchman to Stamford Bridge. The report states that the Parisians have encouraged the west Londoners' efforts to secure the forward following direct discussions with Todd Boehly over a potential transfer.
The Blues boss said: "I think in our past we were at Paris Saint Germain and with Kylian and think I need to be conscious that I cannot talk. Everything you talk is too much noise. It is a situation that is very delicate and one they need to fix in Paris with Kylian.
