Callum Hudson-Odoi is close to completing a move to Nottingham Forest from Chelsea with the two clubs in advanced negotiations over an £8million transfer for the winger
Nottingham Forest are close to agreeing an £8million deal with Chelsea to sign out-of-favour winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, football.london understands.
The 22-year-old informed the Blues earlier in the summer transfer window that he wishes to leave the club on a permanent basis. Fulham have been the front-runners all summer long for Hudson-Odoi but the Cottagers – up until this point – have been unwilling to match Chelsea's £8m asking price for the winger.
Forest have held an interest in Hudson-Odoi for a while now and are finally moving to sign the winger. It is understood that a deal is now close to being completed between Chelsea and Forest that would see Hudson-Odoi move to the City Ground on a permanent basis, with personal terms still to be agreed.
Hudson-Odoi broke into the Chelsea senior side back in 2018 and immediately caught the eye of many. Not least Bayern Munich, who were desperate to sign the Cobham graduate but Chelsea held firm and eventually tied him down to a long-term contract extension at Stamford Bridge.
That, however, is set to come to an end in less than 12 months' time so the club feel like now is the best time to cash in on the three-time England international. Hudson-Odoi looks set to stay in the Premier League despite interest from abroad in Lazio and spending last season on loan at German club Bayer Leverkusen.
The £8m Chelsea are expected to get for Hudson-Odoi looks set to go back into improving the squad. The club are looking to bring in another attacking option before the transfer window closes in about a week.
