Chelsea flop Denis Zakaria aims dig at Blues as he feels 'revived' at new club

Chelsea loanee Denis Zakaria has taken a swipe at the Blues, confessing he feels «revived» since his move to Monaco.

Zakaria was loaned to Chelsea from Juventus last season but only managed to make 11 appearances in all competitions. He was brought in as a backup for N'Golo Kante, with Chelsea having the option to sign him permanently for £30million.

However, after returning to Juventus at the end of the season, Monaco offered Zakaria a new lease of life, with manager Adi Hutter eager to reunite with the midfielder whom he previously managed at Young Boys and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Zakaria has been instrumental for Monaco this season, playing in 25 out of their 31 games so far, as they aim for Champions League qualification. Ahead of Monaco's Ligue 1 match against Brest on Sunday, Zakaria confessed that his time in France has «done me a lot of good mentally and especially physically» following his stint at Chelsea.

«On a personal level, I've had a pretty complete season,» Zakaria said, according to GFFN. «I've been able to play a lot of matches, and I've been able to help the team so I'm happy about that.

»I think the season will be even more beautiful if, at the end of the season, we have a positive result. I'm focused on helping the team as much as possible in these last few matches, give everything and take as many points.

«Revived? Certainly. It is never easy to have a season where you play so little. To have a season where I've played in almost all of the matches, it's done me a lot of good mentally and especially physically.»
