Chelsea owners take on new roles amid Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia transfers
Chelsea have enjoyed a busy summer in the transfer market and firmly placed themselves under the spotlight to be scrutinised under Mauricio Pochettino. The signing of Moises Caicedo has seen the Blues' spending surpass £800million since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took ownership of the club in May 2022.
The west London side have seen the likes of Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic leave the club as departures reached double figures and could still grow. Of course, Chelsea have been unafraid to bolster their ranks with the likes of Caicedo, Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson and Axel Disasi having joined this summer.
Chelsea's work is not over yet however, and Romeo Lavia could soon follow Caicedo in rejecting Liverpool's advances to head to Stamford Bridge. Even then the Blues still have an interest in Michael Olise, and could look for another goalkeeper following Kepa Arrizabalaga's departure to Real Madrid.
It's been a tumultuous 12 months for Chelsea, that has seen a series of head coaches and coaching staff, while there have been a variety of alterations behind the scenes too. The Blues formed a sporting structure which is now led by Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, and after just months in charge, Christopher Vivell has already left his role. Likewise, Mike Jurasek arrived at the club in May as chief executive officer, as Tom Glick departed as president of business.
