Chelsea return 'appealing' for Thomas Tuchel amid Mauricio Pochettino uncertainty

Thomas Tuchel is reportedly keen on the idea of returning to Chelsea as he prepares to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

In February it was announced that the 50-year-old and Bayern had agreed to 'mutually end' their collaboration as part of a 'sporting realignment' at the Allianz Arena.

But after first-choice target Xabi Alonso announced that he would be staying at Bayer Leverkusen after winning the Bundesliga, a petition was set up by Bayern supporters to keep Tuchel at the club as the German giants beat Arsenal to book a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

However, as Tuchel prepares for his final matches in charge of Bayern it appears that he could be set for a return to the Premier League, with the German reportedly open to a stunning return to Chelsea or succeeding Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

Tuchel succeeded Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge in January 2021 and guided the Blues to a Champions League triumph over Manchester City less than six months later. He also won the Super Cup and Club World Cup and reached two FA Cup finals before being sacked by Todd Boehly in September 2022.

Rumours of a possible return for Tuchel come at a time of uncertainty for current boss Mauricio Pochettino, who has endured a difficult debut season at Stamford Bridge but has recently overseen the Blues' late push for European qualification. However, his future at the club is still undecided.

Last month, it was claimed that Manchester United's new majority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is a huge admirer of Tuchel and has already spoken to him about the prospect of moving to Old Trafford in the summer.
