Chelsea transfer 'target' scores in front of scouts - and Sam Jewell has already signed him
Chelsea reportedly sent scouts to watch Sporting Clube de Portugal star Viktor Gyokeres in international action against Portugal on Thursday.
The Blues are understood to be considering a big-money swoop for the Sweden forward this summer, while Arsenal are also monitoring his progress. Gyokeres has taken the Portuguese league by storm since completing the move from Coventry City last summer, scoring 36 goals in 39 games this season.
Although he is thought to be high up on the lists of a number of European clubs, Chelsea have been eager to get ahead of the competition. Club scouts were in attendance in Guimaraes to watch Gyokeres in person for a third time since December, according to Portuguese newspaper Record.
Blues scouts were also in the ground on December 18 when Sporting played rivals FC Porto before making the trip back in February for the Portuguese Cup derby with Benfica. In both of those games, the 25-year-old found the back of the net and sits 11th in the race for Europe's Golden Boot.
The Swede is currently behind Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe but leads the likes of Jude Bellingham, Ollie Watkins, Mohamed Salah and many more.
Sam Jewell, who has recently accepted a role with Chelsea, played a part in Gyokeres going to Brighton & Hove Albion in 2018. The Blues are keen to sign a number 9 with Nicolas Jackson's consistency becoming a concern throughout the season since he joined from Villarreal last summer.
