A much-loved Chinese restaurant has been serving families for decades.
Chows Eating House sits on The Parade in Parkgate, overlooking the distant Welsh hills. For anyone who lives on the Wirral, the restaurant is often the place to go for special occasions.
Derek Lilley, a local businessman and entrepreneur, bestowed the restaurant with the iconic name 'Mr Chows'. Today, under the guidance of current owner Helen Cheng, Chows Eating House is still a household name in Wirral and beyond.

Helen took over the business 25 years ago, she told the ECHO: “I had to take it on. I was only 26-years-old when I took it over and had two children by then and it was the hardest time, but worth it.”
The restaurant serves Cantonese and Beijing dishes in an elegant interior, housed in a period building. It is famous for its banquet,s perfect for sharing with friends and close family.
Next door, there is Chows Meeting House, a stunning Champagne and Dim Sum bar ideal for date night. The running of the restaurant is a "family affair".
Helen added: “My mum was the head chef, but she has retired now. My sister Tina runs the restaurant now. It is so lovely and we have the best team.
“They have been with us for over 25 years, the chefs and the front of house. It’s like a work family."
Helen and her family have also gone on to run Parkgate Fish and Chips - just further down The Parade - Lillypad Cafe and Water Gardens in Neston and most recently Chows Food Trucks, which serve Claremont Farm on Tuesdays and the We Three Logger Heads pub in Mold at the weekend, all serving gluten-free options.
