Christopher Nkunku made his Chelsea debut, scoring a late goal in the second half as Mauricio Pochettino’s side began their pre-season schedule with a 5-0 win against Wrexham in North Carolina on Wednesday.
Pochettino’s starting XI was filled with young prospects, with the Blues lining up Ian Maatsen, Nicolas Jackson Malo Gusto, Bashir Humphreys, Andrey Santos, Cesare Casedei, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Diego Moreira against Wrexham.
It was Maatsen, who opened the scoring for Chelsea in the third minute after a beautiful pass from Jackson.
