In contrast, Nunez lost his place as he scored just once from his final 13 appearances of the season - and even then that inadvertently went in off his backside when chasing down the goalkeeper against relegated Sheffield United. The Uruguayan started just one of Liverpool’s final seven matches of the season as a result, and was withdrawn between the 60th and 70th minute in the previous three games as they failed to find an elusive winner/equaliser.
