After six months without a club, former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly in talks to make his return to professional football.
After over a decade at Old Trafford, the 33-year-old left after his contract expired in the summer. Since then, he has been on a training programme of his own as he looks to re-establish himself as a number one - wherever that may end up being.
De Gea scooped the Golden Glove in his final season in Manchester as Erik ten Hag enjoyed a strong debut campaign in the Premier League. The Spaniard's time in England wasn't shy of scrutiny after his performances came under the microscope, especially in the final months of his career, as he was subsequently replaced by Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Manchester United signed Onana as well as Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce as the Cameroon shot-stopper's understudy over the summer. In 2023, The Athletic reported that officials at Old Trafford backed out of a contract agreement with De Gea last season, after signing a proposal.
The 33-year-old was previously the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world, earning a reported £375,000-a-week but as part of the agreement, it was claimed that he had agreed to take a drastic reduction. However, it was reported that United did not sign the contract and as a result, De Gea left on a free in the summer.
