Real Betis have held talks with David de Gea over a potential return to LaLiga, according to reports.
The 33-year-old has been without a club since July after failing to agree a contract extension at Manchester United. Though, in recent weeks he had been linked with a return to Old Trafford amid the struggles of the team's new No 1 Andre Onana.
However, no deal has materialised which has left the door open for the stopper to seek pastures new with Betis, according to Eldes Marque.
The outlet report that the former Atletico Madrid keeper has not only met with the LaLiga side but 'would welcome' joining the Seville-based outfit.
Any deal is likely to be on a short-term basis during the upcoming January transfer window. Betis are reportedly set to offload Portuguese stopper Rui Silva who has lost his place in the starting line up to former Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
However, the veteran may be headed for a period on the sidelines after ending Thursday's 4-1 Europa League victory over Aris Limassol in some discomfort.
Betis are managed by ex-City boss Manuel Pellegrini and have enjoyed a decent start to the new campaign. The side sit sixth in the league and top a Europa League group that includes Rangers, Sparta Prague and Limassol.
Meanwhile, some United fans have been calling for De Gea's return to the club following his unceremonious exit last summer.
On Tuesday, the Red Devils' official account on X, formerly known as Twitter, took a moment to post a birthday message. In response a number of supporters called on the club to 'bring him home'.
'Miss Dave so much', one said with heart emojis accompanying the message. Another supporter boldly claimed: 'David de Gea, Sir Alex Ferguson's greatest legacy'.
