Very, very few professional athletes will get close to the pinnacle of their sports. Conversations around the ‘Greatest Of All Time’ are common in sport and the names are almost always the same.
Two men who have elbowed their way into the debate in recent years are soccer star Lionel Messi and Super Bowl champions Patrick Mahomes, both of whom may have a decent claim of GOAT status by the end of their glittering careers. On Saturday Messi’s Inter Miami travelled to Arrowhead Stadium to take on Sporting Kansas City and he met Chiefs’ quarter-back Mahomes ahead of kick-off.
Mahomes and Messi were seen embracing in the stadium and the quarter-back met with the rest of the Miami squad. Patrick Mahomes is the co-owner of Sporting Kansas City and he clearly wanted to make the visiting team feel welcomed. Sporting KC played at Arrowhead Stadium, home of Kansas City Chiefs, for the first time since 2007. A bumper crowd of more than 70,000 fans turned out for the ocsassion.
