Diego Costa has reacted to Chelsea's dramatic 4-3 win over Manchester United. Cole Palmer, who swapped the Etihad Stadium for Stamford Bridge on deadline day in the summer, fired the Blues to victory on Thursday evening.
In the final moments of injury time, the 21-year-old midfielder equalised forChelsea from the penalty spot, netting his second spot-kick of the tie. Then, no more than a minute and a half later, Palmer put the west London outfit ahead after Manchester United were slow to react to a quick corner.
Enzo Fernandez picked out the England international, who was unmarked on the edge of the box. Mason Mount couldn't close down Palmer quick enough before his strike was deflected by Scott McTominay beyond Andre Onana.
After the game, Costa marked the occasion with a celebratory post to his Instagram story. The Chelsea icon snapped a picture of his television when Palmer was on the screen and simply typed out a clapping hands and fire emoji.
An endorsement from Costa, who has recently joined Grêmio in the Brazilian top flight, is no mean feat, especially during a period when the Blues haven't enjoyed nearly as much success as he once did in west London.
Speaking to reporters in October 2022 upon his return to Stamford Bridge with Wolves, Costa opened up about his turbulent spell at Chelsea. The Spain international said: «I’ve never had a problem with the fans.
