SSE Airtricity Men's First Division 1 Kerry FC 1 Wexford FC 1
Aaron Dobbs scored his sixth goal against Kerry to earn Wexford a point against the home side at Mounthawk Park. Kerry are now five games unbeaten in all competitions but the wait for that elusive first home league win goes on.
Kerry struck for an 11th minute lead goal. It was down to the hard work of Kevin Williams who won the ball back on the right side of the Wexford penalty area and forced Ethan Boyle to play the ball across his own box to Mikie Rowe but Sean O’Connell nipped in to shoot low across keeper Mason and into the bottom corner of the Wexford net.
Kerry continued to have Wexford on the back foot but there was a dangerous clash of heads between Kerry centre Sam Aladesanusi and his Wexford opposite number Cian O’Malley that led to a four minute stoppage. Both players continued before good sense prevailed and both were called ashore.
Kerry led 1-0 at the interval but Wexford were back on level terms within three minutes of the restart when an overhit corner was collected by Reece Webb whose cross was inch perfect for Aaron Dobbs to head powerfully past Tuta.
Kerry FC responded well to the setback and were denied the lead goal in the 54th minute when Owen Mason was forced to make a superb save to deny Ryan Kelliher.
Wexford FC repelled late Kerry FC pressure with Daniel Okwute going close late on but he was hauled down by Ben Lynch. Cian Brosnan’s free kick was saved by Mason.
