Following Cape Town Spurs' relegation, a host of their players have been linked with big clubs in the PSL. Rushwin Dortley's agency has shed light on his situation amid another reported interest from Kaizer Chiefs.
Dortley emerged as a reported Chiefs target during his time with Spurs in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
However, the 22-year-old had also attracted interest from overseas clubs and went over to Danish giants FC Nordsjaelland for an assessment last season and was close to signing but the deal could not go through, as the Urban Warriors could not afford to lose him in January when they were pushing for promotion to the DStv Premiership.
Makgalwa to Chiefs? Agent responds!
SSG explained to Kickoff what transpired.
"Rushwin went to FC Nordsjaelland last year and did extremely well, it was going to be a possible loan with an option to buy, there was a significant loan fee because obviously at that time Cape Town Spurs, in that January window were going for promotion, so they were slightly reluctant to do the deal then," SSG tells KickOff.
"Obviously, with it being an overseas club and a FCN being a very good club, Spurs wouldn't have stood in his way but at the time he did really well but unfortunately we didn’t conclude a deal.
"He is being monitored, he came back from Denmark with an extremely good report, he’s had a good season in terms of his individual performances.
"Rushwin is a quality player in terms of his position, you don't see a lot in South Africa, left-footed centre-back, with a good physique, a good stature, easy on the eye, cool, calm and collected, with a certain aggression when needed."
