Dynamos close gap on leaders Arrows in MTN Super League

Power Dynamos claimed their first win in four games on Wednesday to close the gap on MTN Super League leaders Red Arrows to nine points, but having played a game more than their rivals it still looks a hopeless cause.

Arrows and second-placed ZESCO United are in action on Thursday when they clash in what could be a virtual title decider at this late stage of the season. Arrows are seven points clear at the top of the table.

Fredrick Mulambia scored the only goal of the game for Dynamos as they ended a lean recent run with victory at Mutondo Stars.

Nkana FC moved four points clear of the relegation zone as they won 2-1 at home to Konkola Blades.

Idris Mbombo gave Nkana the lead but Cameroonian Fils Vitalis Gantar equalised for Blades. Jakob Ngulube scored the winner midway through the second half.

Kabwe Warriors moved up to sixth in the table with a 2-1 home win over Kansanshi Dynamos, who sunk deeper into relegation trouble.

Bruce Musakanya gave Dynamos the lead but second-half goals from Smart Banda and Mathews Tolopa turned the game on its head in the favour of Warriors.

STALEMATES

The other three games played on Wednesday all ended in 1-1 draws.

Eric Chomba gave Forest Rangers the lead against Prison Leopards, but David Obashi equalised for the visitors.

Ten-man ZANACO took the lead via Moussa Souleymanou in the first half, but a 94th minute equaliser from Charles Mumba rescued a point for Green Buffaloes.

And bottom side Trident kept the believe they could engineer a most unlikely relegation escape as they played to a draw at home too NAPSA Stars.

Gilbert Tentani put Trident ahead, but Luka Banda equalised with virtually the last kick of the game for Stars.
